Adding ARToolKit library in Android Studio project

Postby aL_peLi » Mon Jul 03, 2017 1:09 am

I'm new in the development of Android applications and I have to create an little app, at the beggining, of augmented reality. I'm investigating about the diferents resours to create AR app and I have chosen ARToolKit. I have download the and unzip and I have tested the ARSimple app to see how it worked. Now, I wanna create my own app and I need to include the ARToolKit library to the project, but I don't known how to do. Please, anyone that can tell me how I have to proceed?
I'm using Android Studio SDK in w7.

Thanks in advance!

I can tell you the steps for ARToolKit6. I'm aware that you have asked for the steps for ARToolKit5 but I believe they are not that different.

In short, these are the things that you need to do:

Open your project
Right click your app > Open Module Settings
In the top left select the +
Select Import .JAR/.AAR Package > Next
As File name on the right select ... and then navigate to the .aar file in the unziped ARToolKit6 Android SDK
Should be << ARToolKit6 Android SDK >>/SDK/lib/AR6J/AR6J-release.aar
Close the Open Module Settings dialouge with OK
Open it again Right click your app > Open Module Settings
There seems to be an issue with Android Studio reloading imported modules. That is why you need to close and open it again.
Select your app on the left and navigate to Dependencies tab
On the bottom left select the + > Module Dependencies and select AR6J-release

You can find a longer description and a step by step video on this page:
