Camera Calibration File Lenovo Phab 2

Postby Lisar » Wed May 03, 2017 2:52 am

Hello

I'm developing a mobile application with ARToolKit 5.3.1 for android and the google tango smartphone Lenovo Phab 2 Pro.
I've calibrated the camera with the calibration app which is available in the google play store. It said that calibration file was successfully uploaded.
After starting the application, I get the following messages in the console:

I/libar: cparamSearch beginning search for LENOVO/Lenovo PB2-690M/msm8952, camera 0, aspect ratio 16:9.
I/libar: Fetched 1 camera calibration records from online database.
E/libARWrapper: ARController (native): [error]Unable to automatically determine camera parameters. Using supplied default.

I didn't change anything in the native code. Is it possible that something went wrong during the calibration?
At the moment I'm using the camera_para.dat of the example projects as default even if I know that it is not the right one.

Thanks for helping

Hello

I found out what was wrong:
The calibration file in the online database has the wrong resolution.
I've calibrated the camera with resolution 320x240 (4:3) which is the initial setting of the android calibration app.
On Lenovo Phab 2 you can't open the settings because there is no button for that.
I found a workaround and calibrated the camera with the right resolution setting again.

Hello
I have simulated a click on the menu button via adb then the menu popup comes up as usual.

Hello,
Yes, with this solution ("adb shell input keyevent 82"), I can open the settings and choose another resolution.
Thanks.

Hi,
Could this be a more general problem when obtaining calibration settings from the server? If I use the s6 calibration settings that I calculate on my desktop pc (using a mp4 as input to camera_calib), then the graphics appear in the correct place relative to the marker. If I use the values obtained from the server, then there seems to be some pretty significant position errors for markers not at the centre of the field of view.
Ideas welcome!
Thanks!

Hi Chris,

We have created a new calibration server that will be set up shortly, it is aimed at ARToolkit6 future release but is backwards compatible.

Regards,

Daniel
